The black and white contrast in Struggle by ~eXeArt is extremely striking in the powerful accentuation of every detail. As a charcoal worker in Malaysia aged 78 years old, Pak Mat's 'Struggle' is so very poignantly captured here. Without a doubt, this is a piece that really asks for you to dig deep, and, perhaps, to empathise. ( Featured by ^3wyl )

Powerful, demanding, and exquisitely composed. The balance is perfect or the emotion of this picture. I love it! It reminds me of my grandfather when he would come home from the coal mines covered in black. He would cool off a little and then go out and work the family farm before coming in to bathe away the filth of his daily endeavors to provide for so many. His exhaustion would finally take its toll on him as he sat down with a whiskey and coke to eat his fill before the evening news and bed. His eyes would hang, his brow would furrow, and the lines of his face grew so long with his weariness.

Wow, congrats on the DD. This is a great portrait but I guess you already know that. The cigerette smoke on the black background (especially with the dark tone of the rest of the portrait) works really well.
